The BCA Environment Committee was thrilled to be one of the winners of the TD Park People Grants program for 2020.
Due to the COVID-19 situation and physical distancing protocols, the TD Park People Grants program has a modified approach this year, with each group awarded grants of $1000 to support two initiatives.
Our first event will take place in June, and will be an online nature photo contest. The Blackburn is Beautiful photo contest will aim to connect Blackburn residents with nature; highlighting the beautiful flora and fauna of the Hamlet while showing off their photography skills. The second event will take place in the fall, and will hopefully involve removing invasive plant species from our parks; this event will depend on the restrictions in place at the time.
The TD Park People Grants program provides essential funding to support park groups in delivering awesome nature-based activities that foster environmental education, sustainability and stewardship in cities across Canada. Park People supports and mobilizes people to help them activate the power of parks to improve quality of life in cities across Canada. TD provides funding to this initiative as part of the The Ready Commitment. TD has a long-standing commitment to enriching the lives of its customers, colleagues and communities. Together, TD and Park People are helping to bring Canadians together to unlock the power of parks because they know that when people are connected to nature in their parks and communities, people are happier and communities feel more connected to nature and each other.
