What’s happening at the community hall?

Following the Province of Ontario guidelines, the Hall COVID-19 capacity limits have been removed. The BCA is closely monitoring advice and guidance from Ottawa Public Health and will adjust the hall capacity and rental rates when required.

Payment by e-transfer preferred. Cheques and cash options available.

What’s Included?

  • Kitchen facilities including a fridge, oven & microwave. Renters must supply their own cutlery and dishes.
  • Two gendered bathrooms
  • Tables & chairs for a seating capacity of 100
  • Coffee maker

The following regulations must be followed in all bookings:

  • No smoking
  • Maximum capacity is 100 people
  • Bookings can be made for the hours between 8AM and midnight.
  • Please include your event set-up time in your booking.
  • Reservations are accommodated on a first come first serve basis. To secure your reservation you must fill out the application form and pay the rental fee by e-transfer to treasurer@blackburnhamlet.ca
  • The hall is provided to you clean; please make sure the hall is clean when you leave. This includes the re-stacking of chairs (Maximum of 10 chairs per stack), storage of tables, removal of all decorations, cleaning all countertops, kitchen area including the oven if you use it, tables and chairs, as well as sweeping the floor. The washrooms are to be left in clean condition. Confetti is not allowed.
  • Please take out all your garbage to the large garbage bins located behind the arena, which is a few meters from the hall.
  • The placement of chairs and tables is the responsibility of the user.
  • If the clean-up is not facilitated in the manner stated above, the BCA takes the liberty to ask for a damage/cleaning fee to offset the additional cleaning time. The fee is to be determined at the discretion of the BCA Hall Administrator. Furthermore, the renter will lose the right to book the hall again in the future.
  • Fire regulations require that there is a four-foot corridor access to all exits.
  • Please note that the hall is a city of Ottawa facility and follows all current COVID protocols. We will communicate these guidelines with you upon booking.
  • If you reserve the hall and have to cancel before payment, please let us know 3 days ahead of time. If you have paid and cancel after payment, you will get a full refund. Our treasurer will issue a check for you. Please also observe the 3 day cancellation period.

Additional fees may apply in following situations

  • Events with Alcohol require both a permit from the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario and event insurance as required under City of Ottawa By-laws.

    • Liquor Licence - permit must be obtained through the Alcohol & Gaming Commission of Ontario at least 30 days prior to your event. Click here for more information on how to obtain an AGCO licence. Private event licenses are $150. A copy of the license must be sent to the hall administrator prior to the event.
    • Insurance - Event insurance is required under City of Ottawa By-laws when alcohol is served. Cheques must be made payable to Arthur J. Gallagher Canada Limited and submitted with a copy of the liquor licence to the hall administrator prior to the event.

      • Fees are as follows:
      • $54 for family showers, christenings, family dinners, retirement parties and family picnics
      • $135 for all other types of events

  • Additional cleaning or repair over and above normal wear and tear will result in an extra charge to your group.
