On September 24, over dozens of our community’s dedicated volunteers and their families gathered at the Just Food Complex, commonly called the “Barn”, to celebrate the BCA’s annual Volunteer Appreciation Day. The BCA organizes this yearly event to acknowledge the incredible support our community volunteers give to our many BCA activities.
This year’s fun-filled event included hours of entertaining music by Mike Murphy and his band, The Fake McCoys, delicacies of BBQ food provided by the catering company Meatings, and an array of gift cards given to our volunteers, courtesy of the BCA.
The event was also an opportunity for the BCA to award our Volunteer of the Year. This year’s winner, Lynn Lefevre, was presented with a special certificate by the President of the BCA, Jeff Miller. In his presentation, Jeff highlighted the hard work, dedication and commitment Lynn has provided to the BCA. Moreover, Jeff acknowledged how her contributions at our many community events, over many years, have been exceptional and has significantly impacted the BCA’s success to serve our community. Jeff also noted that Lynn’s commitment to quality and teamwork truly sets a high standard.
At the Blackburn arena there is a BCA Showcase that highlights exceptional members of our community, including a plaque for our Volunteer of the Year.
A special thanks must also go to Kate Veinot, Director of Operations and Neighbourhood Planning, at Just Food, for working with the BCA in making the day such a success.
