Seniors Breakfast Get-togethers
Our monthly breakfasts continued with 38 people participating in April and 40 in May (breaking the attendance record). Our maestro, Garth Hampson, sang Happy Birthday to those with birthdays in each month and also “Easter Parade” for April and “In the Good Old Summertime” in May.

Several bags of non-perishable foods were collected along with cash donations totaling $300.00.

Pastor Gabe at the Lifecentre Food Bank expressed his appreciation for these contributions and invited seniors to tour their premises, which will be coordinated by one of our seniors, Janet Richardson, who volunteers there.

Congratulations

Two Blackburn seniors were congratulated at the breakfasts for recently being presented by the Governor General with the King Charles III medal.

Garth Hampson, retired RCMP officer, whose vocal talents have supported various community charities and brought joy to people across the country.

Karen Roach for her leadership in advancing Indigenous representation and inclusion in the federal public service, including the creation of the Indigenous Career Navigator program, for addressing health inequities, such as distributing critical Personal Protective Equipment to Indigenous communities during the COVID-19 pandemic.
