On April 24, Mike Banks, Vice-President of the Electric Vehicle Council of Ottawa, gave us a primer on electrical vehicles (EVs). We learned about their range, charging options, maintenance requirements, cost, and usability in cold Canadian climates. Several owners in the audience also shared their experiences in purchasing and owning EVs. We even took a field trip to the parking lot to check out several different EV models. It was a great interactive experience for those who might be considering switching to an EV.
In May, podcast producer James Charron gave us a behind-the-scenes look at the creation of The Interview Dudes podcast. He explained how three grade sixers took an idea and, with his help, used the power of social media to reach out to prominent guests that included scientists, politicians, athletes, musicians, and professionals from the film industry…including Ryan Reynolds. Their collaborative effort resulted in a podcast that climbed to the #2 Kids and Family podcast in Canada, and proved that with curiosity, passion and support, age is no barrier and anything is possible!
