BCA Board meeting highlights November 2022 & January 2023

The BCA is a grassroots volunteer-run organization that supports and advocates on behalf of residents, businesses and groups in Blackburn Hamlet, Ottawa, Canada.

The BCA board meets nine times a year on the third Thursday of every month, excepting July and August. Meetings are open to Blackburn Hamlet residents. Contact secretary@blackburnhamlet.ca for the Zoom credentials. Minutes from past meetings can be found on our website.

Highlights from recent meetings and board discussions include:

November 2022

  • The repairs to the Blackburn Hamlet entrance signs were completed by John Sharkey Renovations in early November.
  • The students hired to clean the parks the past summer did a phenomenal job.
  • Robert Bellizzi was appointed to take over the vacant Transportation Chair position.
  • Transition of the Membership Chair to Heather McCuaig Edge has been completed.

January 2023

  • Due to challenges with the 2022 Cancer Chase location, we are investigating alternate locations to hold this event.
  • The BCA has joined with other community associations to request the City of Ottawa to provide public Wi-fi at city facilities, including our Community Hall.
  • The BCA Canada Day and Bike Rodeo events will be returning in 2023.
  • Planning for many new and returning 2023 events is underway and details are being posted on our website regularly.
