The Blackburn Community Association’s Environment Committee is excited to announce a virtual education event on mushrooms! Join us on September 7th, from 7-8pm for “The Fungi Connection: A Meander Through the Art and Science of Mushroom Growing.” Deb Kelly, longtime vegetable and fungi grower, will share her passion and process for the art of mushroom growing.  She and her partner Darin Kelly, owners of The Fungi Connection (formerly Kelly’s Gourmet Mushrooms) in Yarker, Ontario, produce about 600 pounds of fresh oyster, shiitake, and lion’s mane mushrooms weekly for area restaurants and farmer’s markets, while also training new growers throughout Canada and beyond, and charming young and old with at-home mushroom grow kits. From their humble beginnings on a small plot of land in Indiana to their 3,000 sq. ft., state-of-the-art mushroom growing facility in Ontario, the Kelly family is committed to sharing their love of the fungi kingdom with friends near and far.

This is a free event, open to everyone and will be held on Zoom.
