Although Mother Nature threatened to snow on the original date of the Spring Clean Up, we had a great turnout of 180 wonderful volunteers who came out when the sun shone on our rain date, Sunday April 28th. Together, we collected close to 200 bags of trash and 20 bags of recycling from the parks, paths, and streets in the Hamlet. The Spring Clean Up wouldn’t have been such a success without the dedication of the volunteers who prepared for the event, those who ran the BBQ, the awesome community who showed up to help, and who baked warm muffins! We were also fortunate to receive some wonderful donations that helped us say ‘thank you’ to some lucky prize winners. This year, we received some generous donations from local Blackburn businesses: Tim Hortons; Spanish-2-Go; Vie Esthetic Studio; and Perfectly Fit. As well as great donations from Ottawa businesses: 9Round-Orleans West; Flying Squirrel; The Ottawa Champions; The Ottawa Outlaws, Terra20; and Giant Tiger.
On behalf of the Blackburn Community Association Environment Committee, thank you for helping make Blackburn a cleaner place to live!
