In spite of the downpour Saturday night and Sunday morning the 3rd Annual Blackburn Hamlet garden tour once again showcased a magical and exciting variety of gardens after the storm passed by around noon. Approximately one hundred people visited the eleven lush gardens and had a delightful tea at the Bearbrook Court Retirement Residence. The residence sponsors this event by providing a refreshing “cuppa” or cold drink and yummy sweets to all who buy a ticket for the tour. Remarks from the comment sheets left on the tables at the tea enthusiastically pinpoint it as a highlight of the tour.
It would not be possible without our volunteer organizers and generous sponsors. Gail Kajiura of Divine-Do’s Event Planning Par Excellence! and Evelyn Budd of Budd Graphics combined their talents, energy and love of gardening again to make sure the tour was an enjoyable experience for all.
Budd Gardens once again generously supported the tour by selling tickets, advertising and donating a$3.00 gift certificate for all who bought a ticket. If you enjoyed the tour please thank our sponsors with your business whenever possible.
Our winners in the Treasure Hunt Draw were Colleen Corrigan (Ritchies Feed and Seed – $50 gift certificate), Don Johnson (Blackburn Home Hardware, a beautiful brass lawn ornament) and Micheline Duchesne (Budd Gardens Perennials – $50 gift certificate). The draw was made from all the entries as the goal of the treasure hunt was strictly for fun.
A very special thank you to our Blackburn gardeners: Denise Pouliot and Mark Brunelle, Sylvia and Ron Smith, Sue and Denis Laporte, Cliff and Laurel Seibal,Henny and Barry Nicoll, Rita and Sam Hill, Mary and Emile Ghie, Evelyn and Joe Thompson,Francine Paquette and Grahame Bailey and Evelyn and Don Budd.
