Fun Fair Gold Rush Days

Published in The BANAR July 1983

The community, the merchants and the weatherman co-operated with the hard working Fun Fair Committee, making this a most successful Fun Fair.

Judging by the large turnout and the many favourable comments, the Friday evening’s activities were well received.

The response to the contests offered by the local businesses was overwhelming. They added to the excitement of Fun Fair. We didn’t realize we had so many bearded gold seekers in our midst. Many enjoyed viewing the artistic efforts of our local children who entered the Poster and Colouring contests. Proud owners joined their pets in the Pet Parade.

What a super way to start Saturday with a pancake breakfast prepared by the merchants of Blackburn Shoppes. A real treat to let them worry about the dirty dishes!

We know it was all worth while at fair closing time when we saw the happy tired crowd leaving after a jam packed day of fun. What Community Spirit!

Thanks for the opportunity to serve as the Fun Fair ’83 Chairman. Best of luck with future Fun Fairs.
