The annual lighting of the Blackburn Hamlet Community Christmas Tree was held in the evening of Saturday, December 13, in front of the Blackburn Pharmacy at the intersection of Innes Road & Southpark Drive. The ceremonial lighting was done at 7 p.m. by Councillor Laura Dudas and the owner of the Blackburn Pharmacy, Lou Frangian. Over 60 Blackburn residents attended, including many families with their children. Everyone was treated to a dazzling Christmas scene created by the joint efforts of Karl Frangian of the Blackburn Pharmacy and the BCA.
Gifts, donated by the Blackburn Pharmacy and the BCA, were handled out to the many children attending the event. Children were invited to hang specially designed Christmas ornaments on the tree. The ornaments were provided by the BCA and intended to reflect the strong bond between its residents and our caring community.
Note: in 2025, the lighting of the Community Christmas Tree will be earlier, at 6 p.m., to allow more families and their children to enjoy this event.
