Big Backyard BioBlitz
Calling all Blackburn Hamlet residents!
Join us in the Nature Conservancy of Canada's 4th annual Big Backyard BioBlitz from August 1-5. Whether you're a seasoned naturalist or a curious beginner, this is your chance to explore and document the amazing biodiversity right in our own community.
With just a smartphone, tablet, or digital camera, you can snap photos or record audio of birds, insects, plants, and other wildlife right from your backyard.
By sharing your observations, you’ll contribute to vital research and help scientists and environmental organizations protect our natural world.
To participate:
- Sign up for NCC’s Big Backyard BioBlitz and follow the steps to add yourself to the project in iNaturalist.
- Record each species observation within iNaturalist and add the following information to each entry:
- Under Projects add “2024 Big Backyard BioBlitz” – it should autofill as you type between August 1-5.
- Under Tags add “Blackburn Community Association”
- Please note that only the desktop version of iNaturalist can add the tag.
