October Discovery Café

When: Thursday, October 23, 2025 at 7:00 PM
Where: Blackburn Community Hall, 190 Glen Park Drive
Topic: Children, Seniors and Dentistry
Speaker: Dr. Chantal Plant
Join Dr. Plant as she explains the importance of dental health and why dental hygiene and regular dental checkups should be considered a key part of the overall health regime for people of all ages.
Dr. Chantal Plant is a warm, compassionate dentist who has been practicing for over 20 years. Known for her gentle approach and genuine care, she is passionate about building lasting relationships with her patients and helping them feel at ease. She enjoys treating people of all agesâwhether itâs a child coming in for their first dental visit at age one or a longtime patient celebrating their 102nd birthday. Her ability to connect with every generation is part of what makes her practice so special.
Originally from Abitibi TĂ©miscaming, QuĂ©bec, Dr. Plant is the oldest of three sisters and was inspired by her parentsâ careers to pursue biology and health sciences. She graduated at the top of her class from Laval University in QuĂ©bec City in 1998 and immediately challenged herself by moving to Bonnyville, Alberta, where she began practicing in Englishâa second language. There, she had the unique opportunity to work on a native reserve and treat young children in a hospital setting. It was also in Bonnyville where she met her husband-to-be, A.J.
After returning to Ontario, Dr. Plant opened her own practiceâBlackburn Shoppes Dental Centreâin 2003, while on maternity leave with her first child.
Dr. Plant also has a passion for giving back. She has volunteered her dental skills in underdeveloped countries, including trips to Guatemala, Bolivia, and Kenya with the organization Remote Area Medical.
When she is not caring for patients or managing her clinic, Dr. Plant enjoys time with her family, travel, golfing, fishing, working out, and gardening. She is a busy hockey and soccer mom to her four children. |
