Deserving community volunteers

The BCA hosted its annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner on September 21 as a way of giving back to those in our community who selflessly give to others.

Honoured at the ceremony was Roger Smiley, past president of the BCA, and a longtime volunteerwith a laundry list of volunteer endeavours to his name. Joining him at the podium to accept a similar award was Fun Fair volunteer Mike Murphy. Mike also accepted a volunteer award for Amie Duquette, who was not able to attend.

This year, I thought it was important that the BCA branch out with our awards and recognize those who don’t currently sit as directors on the BCA board, but who make a difference with the work that they do.

The first annual Community Outreach Award was selected from a list of nominees and exemplifies the generosity of spirit that was demonstrated regularly in our community.

Congratulations goes out to Yola Jarawan-Tannous who was nominated by Trisha Cloutier for her involvement in the community.
