OC Transpo is pleased to announce the upcoming launch of OC Transpo On-Demand, an on-demand transit service pilot project that provides flexible and responsive transit options for the Blackburn Hamlet community on weekends.
What is OC Transpo On-Demand?
It uses technology to create responsive transit service based on customer trip requests instead of traditional fixed routes and schedules.
Customers will be picked up at an OC Transpo bus stop based on the location, time, and destination of their trip request. As more requests are received, the bus routing changes so that other customers can be picked up along the way to your destination, while still following the most efficient route for everyone.
On-demand service in Blackburn Hamlet will replace Route 28 on weekends during the pilot period. Customers can expect familiar fare options, easy transfers, and accessible service.
Where can I use OC Transpo On-Demand?
On-demand service will be available within Blackburn Hamlet at existing Route 28 bus stops, as well as between those stops and Blair Station/Gloucester Centre.
How do I request a trip?
Once the pilot begins, customers can request a trip using the mobile app or by calling OC Transpo Customer Service at 613-560-5000. Download the On-Demand Transit – Rider App on iOS or Android, create an account, and enter the transit code OCTranspo.
