SUMMARY:Adult Bike Riding
DESCRIPTION:The BCA will be holding an Adult Bike Riding session on Saturday\, June 10\, from 9-12 am. This event is designed to provide adult cyclists (18+) with safe\, effective bike riding strategies. Held at the Community Centre\, we are planning to hold information sessions on law enforcement\, developing safe and effective biking strategies\, introduce new bike safety features for large vehicles\, and provide bike maintenance sessions. We may also have a demonstration session where participants can learn how to load their bikes on OC Transpo buses. \nAfter the info session there will be a bike ride on roadways in the Hamlet\, including a controlled bike ride down Bearbrook Road where riders will have the opportunity to put into practice lessons learned from the information session and interacting with large vehicles provided by Lafarge Canada. \nMore detailed information will be provided in the Spring. \nIf you would like more information on this event or want to help us with this event\, please contact Robert Bellizzi at Robert@blackburnhamlet.ca . \n

SUMMARY:Neighbourwoods
DESCRIPTION:What is Neighbourwoods? The city has very limited information about trees on private property. The purpose of Neighbourwoods is to gather information such as the type\, size\, and health of trees on private property\, as well as in some of our parks to help us plan better diversity in our tree canopy. Volunteers receive free training from forestry professionals to learn how to identify\, measure and assess the health of trees. \nMore about the free training On the weekend of May 13 and 14 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dr. Kenney will return to the Blackburn Community Hall to train new volunteers. If you love trees and people\, consider registering for the training. If you would like more information about this training\, or you would like to register for it please contact Clifton Charie at treeinventory@blackburnhamlet.ca. We would love to hear from you!
