Join us on September 7th\, from 7-8pm for “The Fungi Connection: A Meander Through the Art and Science of Mushroom Growing.” Deb Kelly\, longtime vegetable and fungi grower\, will share her passion and process for the art of mushroom growing.  She and her partner Darin Kelly\, owners of The Fungi Connection (formerly Kelly’s Gourmet Mushrooms) in Yarker\, Ontario\, produce about 600 pounds of fresh oyster\, shiitake\, and lion’s mane mushrooms weekly for area restaurants and farmer’s markets\, while also training new growers throughout Canada and beyond\, and charming young and old with at-home mushroom grow kits. From their humble beginnings on a small plot of land in Indiana to their 3\,000 sq. ft.\, state-of-the-art mushroom growing facility in Ontario\, the Kelly family is committed to sharing their love of the fungi kingdom with friends near and far.\n\nThis is a free event\, open to everyone and will be held on Zoom.

DESCRIPTION:What is everyone buzzing about? The Blackburn Community Association is excited to announce a beekeeping workshop with Capital Bees on Saturday September 17th from 11am to 12pm at the Just Food Farm. The event will be held in English and costs $5 per person. Space is limited. Registration is required. Minimum age to participate is 6 years old. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Rain date: September 19th 6pm-7pm. \nIf you are interested in attending this event\, please: (1) email enviro@blackburnhamlet.ca with your name and phone number\, and (2) e-transfer $5 to treasurer@blackburnhamlet.ca with the message “Beekeeping”. Registration will be confirmed once payment is received. The amount is non-refundable unless the event is cancelled.
