December 2023 News

Parcel Thefts

Packages

Christmas is a time when many of us receive gifts by mail or courier and in many cases the item is left at the door. There has been an increase in parcel thefts in Ottawa and in our neighbourhood so keep a watch out for your expected deliveries.

If you are expecting a parcel at your home and you are not there, it would be good to make arrangements with a neighbour or family member to pick it up when you receive notice that the items have been left at your door.

Outdoor Community Rinks Volunteers Needed

Rink Volunteers

The Blackburn Hamlet Community Association is seeking volunteers for our outdoor community rinks at Bearbrook rink and Norman Johnston School.  Volunteers will be responsible for creating and maintaining outdoor rinks from December through March.  We are seeking a team of volunteers for both rinks.  We currently have only 2 volunteers for the Norman Johnston Rink and the season is in jeopardy if we do not get additional support.  If you are interested in volunteering, please reach out to Mark Lister at president@blackburnhamlet.com
